Revd Dr James Cassidy CRIC

Father James Cassidy is Ecumenical Officer for the Catholic Diocese of Northampton. He was born in Liverpool, and attended the same school as Archbishop Vincent Nicholls – although a few years after him. He studied for the Catholic priesthood in England and in Rome where he did post-graduate theological studies. His doctorate was written on membership of the Church in Local Ecumenical Partnerships. He has done research into liturgy, for which he was awarded an MPhil degree, and he also has degrees in Canon Law from Leuven and Rome.

Currently he is also Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Augustine’s Parishes in Milton Keynes, and is also responsible for Christ the Cornerstone in Central Milton Keynes. These are urban, lively parishes with a very mixed congregation, over forty nationalities are represented in them.

In his spare time he is also a regular broadcaster on Premier Christian Radio. Currently he presents a ‘Catholic Commentary’ – a review of the Catholic press. When he was on sabbatical in Rome he was Premier’s ‘Vatican Correspondent’ and used a link between Vatican Radio and Premier Christian Radio to talk to the listeners about life in Rome and the Vatican.
