Morning Prayers Tuesday, 14 April 2020

Take time to collect our thoughts and empty our minds.

God raised Christ from the dead, the Lamb without spot or stain.

Alleluia

Canticle from the first epistle of St Peter chapter 1

Praise to God for a living hope

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you
5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power
until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

We rejoice in the gift of this day, so may the light of your presence,
O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you now and forever.

Amen

Let us give thanks to God for this day
and pray for the people of the world,
most of whom do not have the gifts that we have received from God.

Let us from our isolation give thanks to God:
for the dedication of those who will today be keeping essential services available to us and our homes;
for those who care for the sick, infirm and needy,
for those keeping us safe and fed;
for those keeping us informed of the world outside.

Let us pray for our Christian fellowship associated with the Church of Christ the Cornerstone,
that we may use this time to strengthen our faith together,
that we will be able to better witnesses to the resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ
when we can, once more, open the church building to serve the community in Central Milton Keynes.

Let us pray for our families and friends from whom we are isolated.
Those we cannot physically hold for a period,
let us hold them before God and ask him to protect them and guide them this day.

Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen

Rejoicing in God’s new creation, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your Kingdom come, your will be done,
on earths as it is in heaven,
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

Amen

May the risen Christ grant us the joys of eternal life.

Let us bless the Lord.

Alleluia!

Thanks be to God.

Alleluia!

Go well this day, Living Stones.
